BBS Setup

Post by hurricane1031 »

I am currently running a registered WG32 Server 256 and Major Mudd on Windows 7 Pro. I want to update my BBS configuration. I have a machine with Windows Server 2019. Right now, I am running it the system within my internal network. I may want to eventually go live in the future, but right now I do not have the time to maintain a public BBS. Can you recommend which version of BBS Software I should be using for Windows Server 2019?

MBBS v10 (the current version) works with Server 2019. The demo BBS is running under this setup.

I have not tested WG3.2 under server 2019 but at a minimum the installer may have problems.

You can upgrade from v3.2 to v10.

My windows server 2019 machine crashed. Good thing i made a backup of the v10 data.....

I imported the data to a Windows 10 Pro 64-bit machine and its up and running great. I'm only running Major Mudd on an internal network... The only error I'm getting is, it's trying to connect to Worldlink with the error: WorldLink was just aborted. Reason: CONNECT 1950362368 NEVER RECEIVED

I did not get this error with windows 2019, but seems to be a problem with Windows 10 Pro.

Any suggestions?

Potentially a windows 10 firewall issue? Is outbound telnet allowed?

I'm not sure if I should have opened a new post or not, but I am having the same exact issue, and to answer your question to the OP, I am able to telnet directly from the BBS to worldlink. any ideas?

Might not be your problem, but my VPN was blocking things, so I set up split tunneling to bypass it.

just checked, still not able to connect (not a complaint, just letting you know that fix didn't work)

I read in the boards that v10 automatically updates worldlink's address, or something like that. Is that still the case?
