Tele-Arena Platinium 2.0 Alpha Released

so after 4 years and a pretty stable game engine I took all the feedback received over the years and released Version 2.0 as an alpha. It its online right now at bbs.arcticzonebbs.net feel free to play for those that wanna stick to the original no problem I am leaving it online and even supporting it with new content as it becomes needed.
2.0 has over 40 areas, new skills, new races, new classes, added magical items, usable spell scrolls by any class, completely redesigned ui elements and a whole lot more. Come enjoy one of the longest tenured custom tele-arena games one the internet which has been online since Summer 2001 and is constantly being supported with new features and content.
What is in 2.0 right now is nothing compared to the design roadmap I have with well over 50 new features coming to the game throughout the year. Come on out and enjoy.

if you are a sysop wanting to enjoy the game on your own system, I am working on this too. so if you have an active tele-arena fanbase, let me know lets see what we can come up with.

I am ready to put Platinum 1 and 2 on ProStar if that will help you.

sweet. got some players testing it now so i can tweak the world. While they are doing that im getting the Paladin, Monk, and Shaman classes
ready to go.

Saw your name in an old major bbs 5 module i found today. It was a Globals Package by "ProStar Software Inc"

Yeah, that's me. We had a bunch of different products back then, MailLink, InterLink, Command Center, and lots of utilities and games. We even wrote a version of the card game Caribbean Stud, but we got sued as it was too close to the real game... LOL

i recall command center, i could be confusing it with global power though.
yeah i got the source to interlink and globals from some major bbs 5 system
i found zipped up. Small world when things come back after all these years.

I'd love to help out testing on The Underground if you need more boards running the code.

Unfortunately though, because the board was in mothballs until about a month ago... I've got effectively no players. Right now anyway.

advertise your bbs everywhere possible, do you have majormud if so i can place your bbs in my bbs list are you on the bbs central bbs fb page

my problem is i run 3 modified core versions of ta (Platinum, Reborn, Warfare)
but i also have several original versions i have built but with the custom ones
players just dont get in the originals anymore.

i have:

a full port of TA1/5.6 from the original codebase. (ELWTA1)
a full ver of TA2/5.7 from the original codebase. (ELWTA2)

a port of the 5.6 but converted to SQLite to give sysops that
extra umph when they wanna add more content to the game
that originally was hard-coded. (runes, terrains, titles, etc)
and they can simply edit the sqlite db then type "reinit" and
boom all edits take place on-the-fly no reboot required.
i call this one Tele-Arena Classic (ARENAC).

a port of the original 5.6d gold using my own code to fill in the
missing functions that were originally nested within TSGARN-1.LIB
this one still utilizes the message file database system Sean created
but all the code is mine so its just a cleaner more optimized ver of
the original. i simply call this one Tele-Arena (TA56)

this next one i think you'll like, if i recall correctly underground ran
an edited game am i right? anyhow....

Tele-Arena Game Engine, now this one has future release systems
i have planned but if the core running features are not 100% than
it is all for naught..... so with this game it loads all game content from
a single sqlite database and from inside the game i have created
a plethora of editors for you to edit you game from inside and on-the-fly
meaning no reboots or system disruption to other addon modules to
edit and reload the game. Not only can you edit everything that TAEDIT
could edit, but i also added extra editors so you can add runes, titles,
races, classes, terrains (with damag modifiers like overheated, etc..) and
really a whole lot more. The most recent update i added a "map editor"
meaning you type !mapedit from inside the game and enter an instanced
version of the world where you can walk around and create maps simply
just by walking around. i have personally used this feature in platinum to
create more than 45 areas and it is done so quickly.
This game ships with the 5.6d gold world during testing phases which will
be limited to one bbs. but upon full release it will be setup so you can create
and package your own worlds and distro them to other sysops.
If you want to take testing a step further, i even have it so you can start
with a blank world which is (1 race, 1 class, 1 weapon, 1 armor, 1 town room)
and you can create your own vision of the game.

This game needs testing the most because even though Platinum, Reborn, and
Warfare are built from it they are modified cores so some things i add could overshadow
something that needs fixing.

But hey we do this for fun, so if ya wanna test 1 pick one ill get ya setup as a testing site.
ELWTA1/ELWTA2 are not fully ready, their major bbs v6 versions will release in the coming
weeks, TA56 and ARENAC are ready now as well as the above bragged about game engine :)
just drop me a message telling me you're interested ill get ya started. i know you're in Rick's
inner circle of testing so startup will be quick.

only thing is all my sqlite engines run on wg3 the only dos products i provide are ELWTA1
and ELWTA2 engines only because they are based off original code.

i had it man, it kept crashing during cleanup one morning so i disabled it
until i can figure it out. i run about 30-60 people online playing my custom
tele-arena games so i havent had a chance to look at it.
i dont really do much advertising, full time job, full development projects,
but feel free to advertise anywhere ya like. all my users came from word of
mouth, if ya swing my name out there it typically comes back with a tele-arena
response :)

plus i do system modifications and got my own line of addon products too.

are the mmud crashes btrieve if so try raising open files and handles with the btrieve utility program
hows the dma progress that one i am interested in right now i use telnet to telnet from my main bbs to another bbs setup
for running and testing a new realm build think i tried rlogin but couldn't get it working
