Accomodate ASCII users

Hi!

My welcome page is ansi heavy and my users coming in via ham radio using packet (at 1200 only) use ASCII graphics only and it just bogs down the connection. It sounds like the IF-ANSI construct would work to show the ANSI graphics if it's an ANSI user, and if it's an ASCII user to just show a line of text. But of course I can't get it to work.

This is on page 91 of the MBBS 6.2 System Operations Guide.

Doing the ALT then 27 then release ALT does result in some escape sequence being entered (you can see it in the CNF editor screen). Then I added the [ and | and ] separaters but when I then save and log into the BBS it shows everything I entered (like it's not recognizing to do the IF-ANSI thing).

My ultimate goal is to put in shorter ASCII screens so the ASCII users (ham radio users) will get mostly abbreviated screens.

Other things I've messed with: I read about possibly adding another language (trying not to do this). Also that each screen has .IBM, .ANS and .ASC screens (well and .RIP) but I haven't figured out how to add an .ASC screen. Also to use the PSEUDO KEYS to indicate which port the user has connected to (dedicating a port for the ham radio connections) and make it then use ASCII.

Thanks for any suggestions on how to accomplish this......

Ok can anyone tell me if the IF-ANSI feature is present in v10?
