MajorMud and MajorBBS v10

Post by ewx »

Hi,

Does anyone know if MajorMud for MajorBBS 6.2 work on v10?

No. You'll need to run a version for WG3NT.

I downloaded (the one for WG3NT under the MM Baselines list) MajorMud v1.1p from the majormud website; but I'm terribly confused with the README file.

In README, for new installations, it tells me to unzip the files to an empty directory and then type INSTALL. There is only "setup.exe". When I run that, it gives me an error "INIT: Unable to read value softwarekeyProd (Error -1) Unable to continue installation". (I'm installing this on the same system as MajorBBS v10, specifically, a Win7 system).

I read the README.nt file; but it looks non-applicable since I'm not upgrading anything.

Can someone please point out what I'm doing wrong? Did I download the wrong file?

Edit: I set the Compatibility on Setup.exe to Win95 and it ran; but I encountered the following error when I select "c:\bbs\mjv10" as the directory of where the worldgroup server is.

SupCvt: Unable to read UpgradeType! (Error -1)
Unable to continue installation

I'm getting the feeling that I made a mistake somewhere.

Thanks

From memory you have to manually extract the files from the .Z file using icomp.

There is a site that explains the full setup process however the site also promotes the pirating of MMUD and Worldgroup so I will not refer to it.

If you do not legally own a licence to MMUD, please don't run it.

Oh, then there's little point in going further. I thought I had
downloaded a demo from majormud.com.

Thanks for the clarification.

You may have downloaded a demo which will work (but may be time limited).

I am just saying that some of the instructions may relate to using pirated keys. The instructions should still be applicable for installation.

I took a gander what I think was the instructions; but I can't make sense of it. Dunno if I'm dense or what. Was I supposed to uncompress the majormud files into the same directory as MajorBBS? While I think it implies/says that, I find it strange.

Anyway, I took a look at their website + searched through relevant posts and I think it's safe to say that there's little point in even installing it. Doesn't seem to be supported anyway. Unfortunately, they also have the rights to L.o.R.D... *sigh*

Will there be a list of supported doors (and their download links) posted in the MajorBBS site somewhere?

Thanks

Hi Daniel,

Is this available for download or install on a v10 system right now? I took a look at the Tele-Arena board and got the impression that it isn't.

Thanks
