New user registration

This is kind of a small thing, but would it be possible to separate portions of the new user address? I personally don't want or need street addresses, and most users don't want to fill that out anyway. But do like having city/state in the user list to show where everyone is calling from. Right now you can either ask for the full address or nothing at all.

An easier solution is to change the text blocks for new user signup so the street address portion asks for something else, like e-mail address or whatever you want. Then you can keep City, State the same.

What Blaz said would be nice, and also giving the ability to require just a first name and/or last name rather than a last name. In our situation, a first name is enough ... as some people may be a little iffy about giving all that other detail. That and email would be perfect.

Agreed. I was just thinking it would be easier to be able to enable/disable each line in settings instead of grouping the questions together and having to rig something up to work. The rest of the account questions are all controlled separately in settings. Just the address is all or none.

Yes please to this.... I wouldn't want to enter my street address into a BBS, but certainly would City and State.. Thanks much.

you can write a small addon to ask "Where are you calling from?" and then set a global command to replace "/l" with your own variant...

Information on Sysop
=============
Created... 10/10/1996
Last On ... 12/02/2025
Calling From... Richmond,Virginia

in my own globals package, i have a command "=LC" where you can set your own custom location, and it will show when
users utilize the "=#" who is online listing.. not as big as it was in the hay days but still an option.
