Yes packet is up, the same box actually runs well with GALICO on WG2, same packet driver, port 23 open and free.
I used to test the two galicos ZIPs from themajorbbs on 6.25 and could never make them work on that version of the BBS.
Will test messing up with the MDFs, but I remember I disabled everything in the "Enable/Disable" module some days ago, and couldnt get anything to work on 6.25

OK, I will try this and report back!

I'm sure the packet driver is loaded and working because I use the mTCP DOS utilities to ftp files in and out of the VM.

Also the other Major BBS VM I had before used something called Major BBS TCP to do networking. It worked well but I'm not sure how to use it with the free 256 user version. If I could find a list of files to copy then it would probably work but the directory must have a thousand files in it!

OK as Questman suggested I renamed GALTNTD.MDF to GALTNTD.DMD and started up Major BBS.

First I get the error "Warning: The file GALTNTD.MDF is required for this set-up to operate properly, but it is not present." at the Major BBS menu.

Next I get two errors saying "Cannot open Web server default/error page".

To get around this I created a directory named WEBPAGES in BBSV6 and put blank index.htm and error.htm files in it.

Finally Major BBS loads at this point but the Audit Trail says "TCP/IP STACK NOT INSTALLED".

I'm sure it is installed :)

I haven't tried the new zip file but will soon.

Thanks!

OK. The GP helps me see where in the code it is failing, but I'd like you to try again with the GALICO1.ZIP installer first before I go nuts :)

Same here.
I tried with the GALICO1.ZIP installer, and it brings the same result.

Note: For kicks, I tried installing that same package after a WG1 fresh install, and the installation goes quite differently.
it requires a "PIPER" folder pre-installed by default with the DRIVERS, LANMAN and ETC folders under it. And then asks for ETHERNET settings.
After messing a bit with the "piper" files, it goes successful.

Looks to me a package made for WG1+, but now if anyone ever got it working under 6.25, I guess we need to dig it some more

Piper... I thought ICO1 was HPAC... interesting. I have to dig more when I have time.

Questman I made a new fresh install from the Major BBS v6.25 Free Edition zip file and got it up and running as per the instructions minus steps 7-10. Then I installed the new ICO you sent me and at first it looked good and it said it would ask questions about Ipswitch Piper/IP Installation but instead of doing that it popped up an error message saying Path not found and "Improper installation -- NO \PIPER\DOSAPPS DIRECTORY."

The only thing I'm doing that's not default is when I install Major BBS it wants to install in C:\BBSV6 but the 256 upgrade and ICO wants to install in C:\WGSERV. I'm changing those to C:\BBSV6 but should have I been changing the Major BBS install to C:\WGSERV? Sorry for not mentioning this earlier but the other stuff I've tried before was all in C:\BBSV6. The is the first time I've actually installed anything.

Thanks!

OK. Let me see if I can locate the Piper install. That's really weird.
ICO v1 came out with WG1, but WG1 and BBSv6 are the same, basically. So no, use \BBSV6

Is there a way to copy over the Major BBS TCP install from this other VM to the Free Edition of Major BBS? I think it could work and tried copying one of the files with TCP in its name (libtcp or something similar) but Major BBS wouldn't start because it needs others.

If somebody knew what all files were needed for Major BBS TCP maybe we could copy them over and use them with the Free Edition?

Thanks again for all the help getting this far!
