WG 1.01 w/ICO 1.x - LAN .vs. Internet issues?
I got WG 1.01 running with the Version 1 ICO. When I telnet in from within the local LAN it screams. When I telnet in through the T1, or the OC3 it is very bursty, and speeds are much more modem like. Am I missing something in the configuration? I left the MTU at 1500. I tried changing from AUTO to ...

Mike, The Vircom software requires an "Activation Code" for it to work. Even if you get it installed, the inbound telnet will not work without an activation code, specific to the registration number of the MBBS system you are running. You will be able to ping your computer and see network traffic ...

Will the modules from 6.1x work with wg1? Thats a darn good question. Since I've never installed or run WG in any form, I can't answer that. Can anyone else? How about the 6.25 modules? I seem to recall there being problems running some of the modules compiled for 6.03 with 6.1x... but that is a ...

Cool! Glad they can be of use. Somewhere I have backups of my old file libraries which had tons of vintage stuff from the late 80's through the mid 90's. If I run across that or any other CD's I'll be sure to let you know. In the meantime I'm a packrat, so any and all MBBS related modules/source/etc ...

Guess I should take a look at your BBS. I know what you mean about file size creep... I just bought a terabyte eSATA external raid drive. I am using it to make image copies of all of my old floppies (3.5 & 5 1/4) as well as images of my old backup tapes. I have been finding old memories... and old ...

I just posted the last of the CD's. I was able to ISO all but the America's Premier Shareware For 1993 CD. For some reason I can't read it on my laptop. I will try it on another computer later, if I can get it read I'll post that ISO too. I sent you the links to download them via Private Message. If ...

Thanks for the information. Being curoius I just pulled the source code for 6.12. The date calculations and comparisons appear to be 2 digit years. This breaks anything that performs a differential date calculation or a date comparision, which include years that cross the y2k boundry (pre 2000). I ...

To put it on the the net I'll need a working TCP module. Hrrm... or I suppose I could get creative and write a TCP-SPX gateway. As I recall Crossroads was the most popular module even up through the late 90's. Followed by Forbidden Lands. After that I think it was Galtitrek, EOP and then G-Wars. Rich

~8Watt MBBS 6.12 system... (AKA: What geeks do during lunch)
Needing a break from the typical grind of the day, since I have a renewed insterest in my old MBBS 6.x system; I decided to tinker during lunch today. I snagged an embedded system board from the scrap pile. It has a 500Mhz embedded processor (I think it is a PII clone?), Via Tahoe Ethernet, ATI Rage ...

I just happen to be cleaning the office and ran across the following just about an hour ago... Simtel 20 MS-Dos Archive May 1993 CICA MS-Windows Archive April 1993 Night Owl's CD (not sure which one, it's in the office, I'm not) Phoenix Shareware CD Version 3.0 Simtel 20 MS-Dos Archive June 1992 If ...
