Not intended at all to spark such a discussion

- Was looking for who has what to offer, had a very hard time trying to do so.
- I bought everything I could bought, really (I'm not making it)
- I'm all for respecting copyrights and encouraging dev time & efforts, really.

Was looking for whatever is available for WG NT, a broad question, nothing specific.

Ideally, lists with:
product, price, demo?, stable?, owner, owner_alive?

My experience is that a customer needs to dig these by his own.. Understandable, this is not a new stuff.

Aside from Elwynor, I see no ...

That's an interesting point of view, of course you are among the few who can have a real glimpse on that particular audience gaming pattern and thinking...

Yep casual versus hardcore gamers are two different brand of businesses... they usually don't mix well, so it's quite interesting that they do ...

Thanks for this indepth overview of the mmud situation... very clear !

I'm working in the gaming industry and cloud/mobile generation kids have a very short attention & interest span nowadays. Without instant gratification, they move on, so we have to build "wizard-like" interfaces to take the ...

@iceman:Thanks for crosswordz, good to know!

So that 2012 on Mod9 is pure smoke ! Since mmud is the big thing in the whole bbs scene, it looked reasonable that there would still be a profitable demand on it...

So nobody's updating Majormud content anymore? What happen to addicted players that ...

"marc@jungle.net" replied back, but he referred me to nate hammond @ netvillage.com. Maybe a buyout ?

Waiting for a reply from nate.

BTW, if anyone knows how to extract the (encrypted?) PAK file inside dialsoft demos, I just can't even test them, you need an activation code....

I know they are active b/c:

- Majormud is still hugely popular (ODS knows about it :-D

I'm more interested from all the less-known ISVs (if any ...

Available ISVs?

I have a hard time trying to reach whoever selling away WG stuff...

My list of active ISV stops at:
- Elwynor (rick's pretty busy, but responds)
- Metro (crosswordz@239$ says it all)
- Arctic (dan really responsive !)

My question: Anyone else still selling/giving stuff ?

- Tried contacting Marc ...

Hi guys, anyone ever got their hands on old majornet archives?

Found only one BBS still holding the archives, problem is that the QWK exporter crashes the whole BBS when used (I notified the Sysop).

Hi Dan,

That's great your work for the NNTP part (well for Wg in general!) ... it's unfortunate that WG didn't natively had some newslink.js/puller functionality... IMHO nntp is very simple...

for my scripts, I don't think both could not go in wgscleanup.bat b/c:

- For the nntp stuff, it's in ...

VIR files

Hi guys,

I know VIR files are BTRIEVE databases, but why do modules get shipped with both DAT and VIR files?

Is it that the VIR is an original copy of the DAT in case corruption creeps in ?

For war of world demo module, I fixed my version by deleting the DAT and copying the VIR into DAT, but I'm ...

I have the 3.3 from elwynor running on a Win2008 VM (that's what amazon provides for the free trial) and like you I run a test XP with synchronet + a copy of my main WG3.3
I'm amazed at the stability and speed.. I use to set up 6.25/2.0 on a DOS vm myself, and well, I've settled for good for the nt ...

actually my board is sort of private for now, it's really plain ugly, just playing with it :-)

I updated the nntpimport.py some more with a very-beta Post functionality.
It seems that when users (R)eply to msgs forums, a new file is dropped in folder c:\wgserv\nntpout and WG try to send it to one ...

Hi Toyduck,

I agree, it's not worth it to invest any effort into tinkering with old CD-BBS imports into MajorBBS...
That's why I wanted something that automate the process..

Of course, even the whole point of using file libs today is arguable... I don't think much people still use syncterm ...

Two utililties for managing file libs + forums

Hi guys,

I just got my account yesterday, thanks Rick, these forums are really useful for WG fans.

BTW, I have done two little utilities, no big deal but I'd say they help me appreciate what I always didn't like in majorbbs: filelibs and forums.
Just ask if you want a copy !

LGNUPD.zip anyone?

Hi guys,

Anyone has the LGNUPD.ZIP rlogin replacement ? SwampBBS is down and AFAIK, it was the only place where the module would be available.

With MajorTCP rlogin, I managed to do seamless integration of synchronet doors inside MBBS6.25. Users would enter/exit doors directly, w/o going thru any ...
