I just wanted you all to know that I have successfully updated my BBS's btrieve version to pervasive 9.5 SQL so that all data is available dynamically via ODBC. Here is a guide i posted on ForumsHQ
OK Here is some info on updating an already running WG + majormud
Once installed, replace WBTRV32.DLL in your C:\WGSERV directory (also replace the one in nightmare) with the WBTRV32.DLL in C:\PVSW\bin.
Now your going to need to update all your dats.
Run C:\PVSW\bin\rbldgui.exe and browse to your C:\WGSERV\ directory and select all the *.dat files and update them. (Dont forget to backup everything before doing so just in case)
Personally I think that this newer version makes my BBS operate a lot smoother, but that could just be me. It also allows me to use other programs such as Nightmare Redux for editing MajorMUD without bringing my BBS down and wont cause corruption like it did before.
It also appears to be very stable. I have been running it for over 2 months now with an average of 70 players online without hiccups. Let me know what you guys think.

I'm interested in this. Does it take out some of the delays in travelling through majormud when playing it, which I've noticed is there on 2 of my different setups as well as on several other boards? Is it possible that this could fix some of the other problems related to btrieve, specifically ports that moved from dos and then NT then had problems (mutants for example, quest for magic, ge, etc)
You can check out quicksilverbbs.com and see if its any different for you. The whole server is setup with the new btrieve 9.5 .. its definatly possible some issues were fixed. I personally like the upgrade. I havent had any issues with it so far.

Well, I did a side by side comparison of yours and several other majorbbs boards, and all have those delays. MajorMud just isn't very fast...
I, however, am willing to try this on my old bbs pc, the one i upgraded from, just to see if it fixes mutants etc. It probably won't, but it's worth a shot
What options are you using to rebuild the dat files? I've tried once already, and the board loads but doesn't let any one log on, and the board won't shut down...
Well, I disabled most of the mods and it worked. I got it to work with mutants as well, but it didn't fix the crash problem. So, I'll probably stick with what's already available for now.. Was a good try though..
EDIT: Well, I found the culprit which wasn't letting worldgroup load. It was the rose - council of guardians. Even tried a fresh install of the demo, still no luck, but every thing else I have is loading. I didn't enter each and every mod, but at least worldgroup loaded.
Not sure why the rose would have problems, but with the new system if your interested there is a builder program on pervasive's site (i can give you a link if needed) where you can build the ddf files for all the dats and they can be accessible dynamically via ODBC for use in a PHP site, etc.
Also quicksilver has all the default mods loaded so I know they definatly work. (I'll disable the un-needed ones eventually )

Thanks for the offer, but I wouldn't know how to do all of that. hehe.. I'd love to see a ready-made (but highly customizeable) web option for worldgroup though.
For a while I had an entire phpBB recoded so that it gets the userdata from WG to login to the forum as well as the fact that it offered the ability to change your BBS settings via the forum. It also listed all the accounts MajorMUD characters with their race/class/level. Unfortunatly when the ODBC data was accessed, apache would spike my processor, so I had to take it down because it would pause the system. I'll eventually bring it back up once I setup apache on its own box.

err, can I get that link?
I would'nt mind converting my system to modern btrieve.
