I hope you are asking Mr V over at NV to provide proof of how he Legaly maintained the company Galacticomm and it assets/software after the SEC and banks foreclosed. I would love to see Legal documents proving that. Let me know when you have proof email me, or show me a link.Ve2Tyj wrote:Quest i think you owe the community the ease of mind that indeed you are the owner . I personaly planned to get involved with WG5 by purchasing it , BUT now i findmy self in a crossfire.......Questman wrote:E-Mail me (questman at themajorbbs d0t com).Ve2Tyj wrote: Thanks for the thread BUT questman has still NOT produced any paperwork proving he to be the owner........I'd like to see the bill of sale from the bank ?
Al
ps: as far as now he just keeps saying "I Own it" well i own it 2 LOL
I have nothing to hide. The physical assets were stolen and moved across the state border from Florida to Maryland. The court documents previously linked show not only the foreclosure but the instruction that the sheriff should go physically recover the assets. Unfortunately when they crossed the state line the Florida sheriff couldn't do it. It's almost felonious at this point because they crossed state lines with stolen property.
As for the Bill Of Sale it's my right not to post my stuff for the world to see but if you want to see something I can arrange it.
Whom ever can show Bill of sale OR a form of legall ownership i will resepct BUT if both of you have reasonable ownership papers and they are legal.....hell i cant be held respobsible for any decissions i make from that point.....
Thats why i say Questman............. Show us the BEEF....i will also ask the other party to provide said ownship as well.......
Quest show us your cards of get outta the game........
Will the REAL Slim Shady please stand up ( LOL )

i ask Quest again " Show me Proff you own the software "
If you refuse then i will take that as a admitance that you dont and i will purchase WG5 with an open mind as i posted this in open confidence.....i will also post this directly to Questman accounts so there will be NO misunderstanding...
Dam guys , grab the bull by the horns and get the job done

NOTE: just so you all know i have emailed Quest man privately and said the same things as here....this staements are also being echoed to NV as i ask them the same questions...
I will not reveal any info to anyone untill i have fully investegated it myself.......
NetVillage has historically refused to provide this documentation because it does not and can not exist.
This is easily determined by public records. The court cases that show the UCC loan documents from 1995 through 1997 when Tessier/Berg's Galacticomm Technologies Inc. refinanced the loan originated by Galacticomm Inc. The court then did judge that the bank can foreclose. On September 3, 2002 a certificate of title was produced showing Union Planters Bank as the owner of the rights (and physical property too).
Throughout all of the time all of the loans instructed Galacticomm never to allow the assets out of the state of Florida. In the judgement the judge instructed the sheriff to go get the stuff. I wonder if what NV did is actually a felony and/or federal offense since the property, not theirs, is technically stolen and then carried across state lines.
Finally the SEC documentation - easily obtainable thru EDGAR - establishes that the term "General Intangibles" does indeed cover intellectual property (this is standard in legal terms anyway) and most importantly highlights that the Union Planters interest is primary. All other claimants were subordinate to Union Planters' lien. This was acknowledged by Mssrs. Tessier, Berg, and company as well.
So finally all that is left to discover is what did Union Planters (now Regions) Bank do with their rights? I know that they were looking to find the assets and sue the thieves but they never put 2 and 2 together to realize that Netvillage was the one who had them. Their main concern was acquiring the money from the judgments that Galacticomm won against the companies doing the IPO - they were owed nearly $6mm in judgments! That money is now rightfully the bank's. When I bought the assets I bought everything EXCEPT the rights to those judgments.
I do have a bill of sale from Regions Bank dated November 1, 2005, signed by Donald Nelson, VP of Regions Bank and notarized by Cheryl Cooperman (notary public) and witnessed by Cooperman and Barbara Grattan, the Special Assets Officer.
I will share this Bill of Sale with anyone interested as long as they are willing to sign an NDA because I am not interested in this being pasted all over the internet at this time.

That is one thing I do not wish to share. It's nobody's business how much I paid for the rights. The Bill of Sale is shareable but I've redacted that and I will only share it under NDA. I have valid reasons for this, sadly.
It would be nice if this weren't so encumbered but it is what it is.
@Corey: The master source tapes were not stolen. Those are in my possession.

I thought I heard years ago the tapes were stolen and sold, but no one could recover they data from them. hmm, did bill simner try to sell some tapes once also? I remmeber NV told me they got the dev. servers from gcomm but nothing over 3.2 was recoverable. shows how rumors go around thou. is everything recoverable? I'd like to also see a resurgence of the dos systems.Questman wrote:That is one thing I do not wish to share. It's nobody's business how much I paid for the rights. any linkup/chat stuff for mbbs?Questman wrote:@Corey: Yes, Netvillage took the servers. They took everything they could get their hands on and fled the state, apparently.
I was able to read the tapes, yes. I was able to recover the final DOS build code as well add-ons and of course Worldgroup.
that would bring back dos chat systems, I think.
How about any game code you could share?
I still have the game code you gave me to use on my system but dont know enoght to expand a game world.
I would even sign a private my system only mod agreement. sort of like the alchimist game you gave me, I will only use a modded game on my system and never give code out to anyone.
Yes, the linkup stuff works but it's rudimentary. I even have the old DOS worldlink code but it's so primitive compared to the latest client that it isn't useful.
It's frustrating, to be sure! But Chatlink, which came with 6.25, was a third party product and Galacticomm never had the chatlink server code.

As stated in my original post in this thread, I also offer completely customized professional versions of the WGM Client specifically built and tailored in great detail for your BBS.
Nearly everything can be customized. Here is a short list off the top of my head:
1. Windows Start Menu - Would be "Your BBS Name" instead of "Worldgroup Manager". This can also include custom names, icons, links, shortcuts, extra folders and documents, pdf files, whatever you want added to your BBS's custom Windows Start Menu group.
2. WGM Client Itself - Pre-named groups/icons in the WGM client for your specific BBS, custom icons, your BBS already entered with any pre-configured settings for connections, IP address, usernames/passeords, graphics, etc. It would be very customized to your specific BBS. The coolest part is the "direct connect" Start Menu items, which provide rapid instant connection to your BBS via Client, telnet or web. No having to manually open and poke around in the client app to connect (but you can if you want). Ultra slick!
3. The InstallShield single-exe file installer package itself - Custom name, titles, graphics, banners, All Win32 compatibility enhancement for 9x/ME/XP/2003/Vista32/Server2008(32) , EULA/License, ReadMe, etc.
There are TONS of configurable items that can be added to a custom installation for your BBS.
The order form, which contains a detailed features list, is found in the Start Menu group of this demo version (I chose not to pullute the generic release with advertising for my service - I'm a "purist" on such things and hate it when people do things like that).
Disclaimer: I am not re-selling WGM, and no legal barrier is being crossed. All I'm charging for is my time, knowedge and resources to produce custom installers for an outdated software product that you are already using/have paid for.
This demo is for a non-existant BBS called "GalactiCool BBS". It will not actually be able to connect, obviously, but it will try to do so.
DOWNLOAD THE CUSTOM "GALACTICOOL BBS" DEMO (8.6mb Full Installer)
http://www2.whidbey.net/bobh/wgmanxp200 ... .10.13.exe
PRICING:
Initial Build - Custom Stand-alone single-EXE InstallShield installer of your WGM Client: $50
Additional Rebuilds - For any changes/modifications you may desire/require in the future: $25
Payments via PayPal.
All yours for the price of a pizza and some movies. Just follow the order form in this demo if you're interested.

Yes the new client is still available on theswampbbs.net (CLIENT file area)
To bad you got your IP banned with your recent attacks on the web interface.
WG doesnt run php, but the audittrail sure can log IP's from the web and thier malicious actions.
I really do appreciate another WG sysop attacking

I wont post the exact input text used to pervent further use but about 3-4 days ago traced it back to ods IP.

(quick note, if I was a malicious person I would not have legally purchased duplicate IP from elwynor Technologies, I paid money when I could have easily just used one of the cracks online, hopefully that lends some credibility to me, now carry on to my long rant about being accused, please read all the way to the end it contains a couple scenarios for you to research in your audit trail... in fact I'm writing this while on the website now trying to retrace what I might have clicked)
Woahhhhh hold one second there, I was NOT attacking any bbs system... I noticed through google searches you had a filename for the updated client... so I simply tried attaching that filename to your domain name to see if it was in the web directory... ala http://theswampbbs.net/WGC2008.EXE
that is not an attack on your bbs, its me trying to get a file I would think would be a quick easy download from the web directory...
I've been doing hundreds of google searches lately trying to find files, not attacking systems... I noticed you have a voice verification and that I guess lately you're busy and its going to take a while to do and I wanted the file so I could fix something immediately...
P.S. I wouldn't know anything about php myself, as I don't program... so if there are some php requests coming from me which I doubt since I checked the virus scanner logs just to make sure my machine wasn't doing something to others... but I completely understand worldgroup logs everything, I myself every day see thousands of file requests and php and dev this and robots that on my own system... along with the spamming systems trying to guess usernames with pop3 which can crash the system depending how they do it, that I had to disable it and remove most graphics so others didn't use me for long saved images...
I went through many pages on your web server because its not often to find a bbs that has information anymore, little alone recent information, and your help.htm page had information that came up in googles search for the file, since it has the filename in it.. the ansi editor fix, the wg manager fix, etc etc
P.S.S. your contact us link didn't work, i tried to contact you using your form which didn't work... so perhaps that is this mystical attack on you... the online form to email which possibly since you've no longer allowed this type of feedback appears to bounce around your setup? I don't know I'm guessing here, just dislike someone saying I was trying to do malicious things...
perhaps the java telnet requesting additional files you don't host, I get that with my java telnet sometimes from people using it quite often and once in a while I run into someone who can't use it and it sits there and requests files I don't have... I couldn't tell you but I did not try to attack you.
P.S.S.S.S.S please post the exact things I requested to show me what I am doing that is malicious also... my IP address however won't matter, as I am on dynamic and it changes every couple minutes sometimes... otherwise I'm guessing I wouldn't have been able to get on your website again or telnet in...

As for file downloads, make an account then goto the file area all files can be downloaded in DEMO class without validation. Why you would try to guess whats in the webpages dir is very strange behaviour for a wg sysop.
No account for Iceman as of writing this.
Voice validations are unfortunatly delayed until my health related problems improve.

The logs show excessive port scanning, php admin access attempts and alot of manually entered non existant webpage names and full directory read attempts. All being signs of malatious actions.
You obviously see the php admin attacks/attempts on your own system.
Most visiting sysop's log in and use /p sysop or teleconferance.
I am curious how you know the exact page address text input to cuase a crash when useing the "contact us". The first 80 charters match that of past crash attempts. Dspain and myself have tried replicating it but not been able to repeat the crash to fix it permantly. Unfortunaly the auditrail text length max is shorter than the command input into a browser so only a portion of it gets loged to the audittrail. The contact us form does work, some of the spam bots like it.
As for javatelnet, hmm need to login also. You wont get far guessing directories, page names or file names. I have never had a reported problem with it when a user is logged in to it, all the bbs systems work 100% including file downloads in javatelnet. Oh wait sorry 1 complaint about javatelnet.... "the background screen is to white".
Your actions are unuseual to say the least, it apears more like you were hunting for a way in other than a normal login to access files. You could have simply created an account which would have allowed you to dl the new client file in about 2 minutes.

What I am saying is I don't know how to crash your system using the contact us form... I tried to contact you!!! it didn't work, and now you're trying to blame me for it crashing the system when I clearly have tried to contact people about files that google says they have... I mean come on wake up and really look at what it is, me trying to contact you... if it happened to crash your system why on earth is it still active and running and why am I being blamed for it...Stoneslinger76 wrote:

maybe the reason why it looks like the past attempts, is because other people are using your form to try and contact you man!! take it down if it doesn't work or crashes your system... its not me trying to be malicious and screw around with you, it was my trying to contact you after sending a direct email to your system gets bounced back and not let me email the sysop account at the swamp...
if its crashing your system and you don't get the whole input try checking your galexcep.out file that should contain the entire module, username, text input, and whatever they were doing???
I think you're blaming me for things others are doing and I really dislike it since I tried to contact you through email, I tried to contact you through a contact us on your website, and when I did make an account long ago to login I didn't have access to download anything in 2 minutes... hence why I found out you were busy and it took a while to voice verify people... from people on your own system also on other places...
if I wanted to crash your system as some glorified highlight of my day, I'm certain there are many problems with many modules and bugs still in worldgroup I'd do it every day... I wouldn't try several methods to contact you to get a file...
I certainly wouldn't still legally be buying modules to use, instead I would be using the cracks and doing malicious things to get them or use them... thats why I checked the virus scanner thinking maybe I had something I didn't know about and thought maybe I was in the wrong... but nothing.
I haven't checked sysop pages in years as I don't have the machine sitting next to me or want bells and whistles going off, and at cleanup all those pages get removed anyhow so no record is left for people to see someone was trying to contact them... can you get over the fact I'm not trying to attack your system and cause harm... I mean geez man.
P.S. I never port scanned you, I don't even have software to do it... but trying to guess a file that might be in the web directory isn't that weird... I keep megamud, putty, and many other programs publically available in my web directory so people can grab the files from anywhere... lots of people just want the file to download cause its been hard to find someplace else and didn't neccessarily want to signup to get it.
P.S.S. I am sorry to hear about your health problems, I too as I age here am learning much about that myself as I never thought I would need to go to the doctor to live a normal life.
P.S.S.S. (I PS alot) the "full directory read attempts" was me browsing your entire website cause I was looking for information, I never actually saw the worldgroup help pages before so I was reading them (also where google links to your website for the filename)... viewing a website isn't malicious, you've got a lot of information compared to the typical system today which is the one screen or none at all for all the pirated system.
almost forgot, to help with voice verifications...
years and years ago, gosh its probably been over 10... we had a module made by someone that required a modem line, but people could voice dial it
and enter a code, and it would match the caller-id versus the signup information to change their class account to something approved... someone here might remember what that was called if you still have a modem and land line.
think it was from one of the guys who made the 900 module for people to buy time with codes and he just changed it a little bit for verifications?

Not sure letter for letter what I would have entered in the feedback form but it'd contain asking about the wgmanager with filename, contain many dots after sentences... and thats about it I guess... is it something possibly like the email web interface where the percent symbol crashes when someone is viewing the listing (although I wouldn't have used any symbols but perhaps the filename itself?)... I think that was fixed in 3.3 but I'm running 3.2 myself so I have many many things disabled still, among many modules with crash bugs like cross-wordz I miss having.
I dunno I'd go probe the form and look at it again, but considering I'm already being accused of something intentional, I'd rather not try again just to not cause problems... Usually I've had problems in subject fields of things, not so much the content area so I can't remember but does it have a subject field? (usually symbols were the issue but I wouldn't have entered any, using a period in the return email address before the @ symbol? first.last@domain)
i have since created an email verifier done by smtp email, them odule is done once the wg smtp stuff allows authentication it will be used by alot of sysops i assume.Iceman wrote:almost forgot, to help with voice verifications...
years and years ago, gosh its probably been over 10... we had a module made by someone that required a modem line, but people could voice dial it
and enter a code, and it would match the caller-id versus the signup information to change their class account to something approved... someone here might remember what that was called if you still have a modem and land line.
think it was from one of the guys who made the 900 module for people to buy time with codes and he just changed it a little bit for verifications?

As I said if anyone needs or wants to try the client its available in the CLIENT file area. Demo users have full access to the file area.
Eventually will be adding automatic validation email once the core smtp mail module is updated.

Hi everyone!
Yes, I've been away for quite some time now, my apologies.
For an update status on the Worldgroup 3.x client I was able to come up with:
Yes, it's still available. No, I have not been active with it, I have been engaged in other projects like cell phone apps and other pursuits. Yes, it works with Vista and Windows 7, but only 32-bit versions (because the 32-bit versions still retain the ability to run 16-bit apps). And you're welcome for the generic release, it' was a pleasure to breathe a little more life into the increasingly irrelevant Worldgroup product. It really pains me to see such a fantastic, stable, niche product evaporate into history.
Due to a specific need, I have recently been checking out Worldgroup 5.2, which is currently being advertized at Netvillage (I know, a sore subject around here, and you have my apologies, especially towards Questman, as I understand).
Nonetheless, WG5 is badass, and I've tried the demo and I'm definitely interested in it. But I cannot get a straight answer out of the "owner" (*cough*) as to price info, etc. It now feels like I'm being avoided, and have no idea why. It's likely because I used the same username on the Netvillage web site as I used here, so that's probably it. Sigh.
Can anyone tell me what the pricing information is on that product? Or if anyone has actually been able to make a purchase?
I do NOT mean to start any flame wars or spin anyone up, and I know I probably shouldn't be asking that here. But since the ownership issue has gone stagnant and is obviously not being resolved, and since I am not seeing any new or modernized versions of Worldgroup being released on this side of the fence (just crickets chirping), I'm in the mood to make a purchase of WG5 and I'm willing to just let God sort it out.
Until this is resolved, I consider WG5 what the software industry calls a "fork". This might not be a popular decision to make, but I need WG5 and I have no alternative (all that LAMP-based crap out there is pure convoluted junkware that's held together with rubber bands and paperclips).
Any information anyone has on WG5 would be appreciated, but I also understand if people are hesitant to speak of this topic in here due to the seemingly legit but puzzlingly unresolved claims I have been reading about.

I will share this Bill of Sale with anyone interested as long as they are willing to sign an NDA because I am not interested in this being pasted all over the internet at this time.

with all do respect to questman gcomm.com has been the site we have dealt with well since the itnernet came to be and if netvillage stole these domains, source codes, product activation generators, then he needs to take the possible action in court.
noone can expect a consumer prior to making a purchase go through all the worldgroup arguments before purchasing it, it is just too much hassle and well let's face it look at the community now to 3 years ago?
i am not defending anyone just pointing out the fact that until he gets a judge to order a cease and desist they remain on the internet designing, developing, and deploying their own flavor of worldgroup as they have done since 3.30, 4.00, 4.10, and now 5.10.
the easiest way to clear all this up is a simple filing in federal court.
i personally think Rick and Nate have learned to co-exist, Rick handles al lthe hobbyist and gamers interests in the product, while Nate has went to more professional/commercial interest and both can equally co-exist.
it is my professional opinion that they could easily work out a funding contract as i have worked with Nate on the MySQL WG stuff (not a violation since we both hold worldgroup development licenses, and the SQLite and MySQL addons are just that, addons) and he and Rick could easily co-exist in this market, hell if Rick would allow it i could sell hobbyist licenses like flapjacks, i get 5-10 emails a month of custom addon requests and several of people wanting to purchase a wg version for either playing a few games or running a small business front.
but to finalize my post, until netvillage.com / gcomm.com is shutdown they will continue to make their web model or "fork" of wg and do so easily.
agreed but we are coming to a point where we either gotta get something in black and white or the community will just fall apart, a house divided cannot stand am i right?Questman wrote:However, companies do need to ensure they're buying legitimate software. Companies can be sued for knowingly (or should-have known -- constructive notice) using illegal software.
The fact is that any major company that buys a NetVillage product can be sued directly for infringement.
I've tried, Dan. I don't think it's something Nate would be against, either. The problem is he has no ability to sign anything. NetVillage, the company, was setup by former late-era Galacticomm investor Harold Van Arnem. He calls the legal shots there. My guess is that he felt that when Tessier/Berg had the roof coming down and were getting foreclosed and evicted that because he invested he had some right to tell people to grab what they can and set up shop. The problem was he wasn't the first lienholder -- the bank was, and that was confirmed in the SEC documents (See EDGAR) and by the courts in Florida.
Van Arnem is like Mitt Romney. He buys companies and either turns them around or makes money from the ending of them. He's got money and means and the actual law is not necessarily the law when you have money.
He has no interest in acknowledging that he has no claim. By signing any agreement with me -- and I'd gladly welcome the opportunity to do something -- he'd be admitting a felony.

yeah i run intop people like that all the time on the business front i am into deals with alot of investors who end up thinking they own rights to things and going on blah blah.Questman wrote:I've tried, Dan. if we could setup something for new sysops to purchase hell even a 3.20 system i think we could draw alot more people back, the sysops wanting gaming sites anyhow.

yeah np, i checked out 5.2 i like the twitter look with followers, and the photo registries and such pretty nice looking, i did speak with him about disabling temrinal mode i think that is something the sysop should have the power over, i mean why can a business not exist on ports 80, 25, 21, and 110, while your hobby can exist on ports 23 and 512, businessman by day majormud player by night?Highwinder wrote:Thanks dspain, that's pretty much the way I've been looking at it as well. i am currently working on some mysql integration and getting my sqlite dev kit into the baselines, i am running an overlay accounting system that co-exists with the btrieve standard system and it works great the only problem i have is when a class is created from the remote sysop menu i got no way to "catch" it until a user connects to the server that is in that class.
its a perfect system that allows sysops to run some really new stuff using sqlite and mysql without ever replacing anything baseline or wg standard, install my new accounting system, dont like it? delete ARCCLASS.DLL and remove the "classes" table from worldgroup.db
aside from myswl and sqlite only other databasing option i could see is json and i have no clue how to work with that so il lstick to the sql fronts.
