Worldlink Forums Setup

As stated previously, I got worldlink itself setup and have figured out how to add the echo mail to the forums, but it doesn't appear to be working. I had temp given up setting up nntp stuff, because you need a news server like dnews supposedly, but the worldlink forums are suppose to work without that right?

Basically, if I write a message in the forums, I don't see any proof of it leaving the bbs. All I can see from the audi trail is "WL GET-MESSAGE START - Starting download of messages from hub" "WL GET-MESSAGE DONE - Byes: 0, Msgs: 0 (0e/0f), Files: 0"

The board doesn't appear to be receiving or sending out any thing. Do I need to contact worldgroupware and sign up to the forums in order to receive and send messages, or am i missing some configuration options or what.

The forums i'm trying to receive are:
user.emulation
user.rose
user.xbox
user.ufo
user.sports.football
user.pets.dogs
user.pets.cats
user.poetry
user.programming
user.bbs.ads

When I go to the /wl-forum-manager page, all of those newsgroups have a blue and a green diamond to the left of each group.

Thanks

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think worldgroupware.com has worldlink setup properly.. Randy at High Society mentioned problems with it.

When I get some time - and I don't have much at the moment - I will try to setup a Worldlink server as an alternative.

How is this going?

I've experienced the same thing, you ever get it figured out?

It's on hold while Randy finishes a business transaction relating to his company that takes priority. After that, we'll have several servers at our disposal to properly architect this.

If it helps any, I'd be willing to bring one of our linux boxes online if you're in need of a server. If it's something that can be accessed via ftp/http, I've got a box in atlanta on dual OC3's. Otherwise, I can bring a dos/winnt/2003 box online tho it's on commercial cable (7mb down/1.5mb up).

No, I never got it to work, unfortunately, and have finally taken out my last worldlink forum from the board.

I received an answer from Don Barr at Worldgroupware, it seems that no one is using the message bases. I went over my connection paramaters as Barr suggested, to make sure, and it does seem like I'm connecting, I was even showing a connection/transfer rate...but visits to a few of the boards showed inactive forums. All the users I found were in the games. Anyway, I sent a couple of test messgages again, and will see.

Well, I logged on to the boards connecting to WG, and checked with Worldgroupware, it seems that no one is echoing any forums, everwhere I went there was no usage in the message bases..except HS, but I couldn't tell if any of those were being echoed.

Seems everyone is playing MUD..

I had joined several of their forums, but when I tried to message in a few, I believe I kept getting an error message every time it tried to send. I eventually had to manually go in to one of the worldgroup folders and manually take out the emails that were not getting sent.
