DoveNet...a possibility with WGNT?

I was speaking with Rob Swindell (Digital Man) author of Synchronet BBS, and we were talking about the possibility of Dovenet Forums on a WG BBS. He said if WG supported NNTP (which it does) it may be possible.

He said:

"Create a new account on Vertrauen, answering Yes to the "QWK Networking" question, then use this account to authenticate with Verts NNTP server where you can send and recieve DOVE-Net."

vert.synchro.net is the BBS

Anyone tried this or any ideas how to make it happen? Linked forums is the one thing I really miss from going to WG form my SBBS package.

Update, talked to Rob again, told him that people were thinking WG didn't fetch, he said:

"You need an NNTP client, not server. If WG doesn't have one then that would pervent you from getting DOVE-Net."

Can anyone weigh in some new info now?

ok, worldgroup is mostly a set of servers.
you would need to get a client for it,
like maillink it fetches the mail from other servers.
mbbs had some nice clients, one was for fidonet.

hmm, looking at the wg 3.2 code I see the nntp modual had code to take messages from the GME and send them to usenet groups, maybe someone could mod the code so it will fetch other stuff.
