Found this on google, not sure if it applies.

DO NOT START MAJORBBS BY RUNNING C:\BBSV6\BBS.BAT. It will initially start but when it loads MajorMUD you'll get a nice red box with an error that says "Out of contiguous selectors!". USE "C:\BBSV6\BBS"!

that just runs the same bbs batch file anyways.
then I get all the btrieve errors first.
hmm, maybe I need to path the btrieve exe?

Maybee he means try starting it by Majorbbs.exe Try to run a galdiag.exe and see what that says. For some reason scandisk/checkdisk/defrag comes to mind on that error but its been many years scince major bbs.

hmm, 6.25 dont have this program.
and if you run the main exe your other support wont run. like the bbs checks and database, just minor stuff.

well, I have been tracking it down but no solution yet. it's a pharlap error 0000. the manual says to increase selectors in your exe. I increased them to 1024, they are 512 by default. still no luck.
majormud must be one huge resource hogger.
the majormud is version 1.1j

It's majormud 1.1j causing the error.
I stripped down the system to just run majormud
and the exit modual and it still does it.
there is no way my system is out of selectors.

Mud may need to update, did the bbs run util mud loaded fully? "update database completed" in audittrail. Maybe try reducing mud's buffer settings in cnf.

Are you trying to run the BBS in DOS, or in window?

If you are trying to run the BBS in a window, use the BBS.PIF, not the BBS.BAT file.

ok, that works. I don't know why I didn't see this.
it sets up the proper enviroment for it.
thanks
