This one is a little tricky. In order to have the menu be an ANSI screen, you have to go into the menu editor (WGSRUNMT) and change what type of menu it is. You will then be allowed to change it to an external ANSI file instead of the default. Be sure to mark the spots associated with the menu options so that your users won't see things like Sysop options if they're not supposed to.

yeah just edit the way it looks and remember custom ansis wont block out hidden/dimmed options.

Actually, there is an option if you edit it with WGSDRAW to pick what gets dimmed or not by menu option if you highlight areas with the ALT-M option. ALT-K shows what you've highlighted already. Just draw it out ahead of time, edit as needed, then re-save it. Make sure that you use wgsrunmt to associate it and edit the option markers. I have this working.

This is correct. Using WGSDRAW, these areas can be set to not show up if the user doesn't have access to them.
As far as I know, the wgsrunmt part is unnecessary. You just have to make sure to save your ansi menu with the same name as the page it is assigned to. Your main menu is called TOP by default, so an ansi menu called TOP.ANS will automatically replace the stock menu. If your games menu is called GAMES, create an ansi menu called GAMES.ANS to replace it. And to take advantage of the larger character set, they should be saved as .IBM files rather than .ANS files. The board will associate either one with the page.
These can be edited and uploaded into the main bbs directory without taking the board down, and will take effect immediately.

Actually, the first time, you have to set it to display a file or it won't do it. Once you've done that, you can edit it as you please.

I see that setting in the menu editor. I started using ansi screens in WG 1.0 (MBBS actually, but I didn't set that one up) and never had to set that. Maybe the default setting was different back then and just carried over as I upgraded. Appreciate your input.
