Like i said I got WL forums going and have sent and received messages in the chat forum only.
I had to set my Worldlink account to sysop class before it would work right.
The setup for WL forums is not easy.
As for ML(maillink forums)I have not gotten a message in a long time,I don't think there is a hub anymore.

The current national Maillink HUB is 206.137.16.2 this is the only one at this time and Marc runs it.

The problem is getting Maillink activation codes from Marc he is swamped with work and hard to catch but Maillink is free now.

I own three copies from the old days but lost all the activation codes over the years :(

I will email Marc again or if dspain could talk to him that would be great, we need a way to create activation codes and generate Node IDs and if possible setup a few more hubs so if one is down the network is still going.

He told me he has no issue with me creating them but the code package I have for him is messy and I'm having trouble with it..

Hey - Don - would you be interested in taking a look at this?

Storm I was on your bbs the other day and I see any user(im not sysop AC) can access the 2 sysop message bases. You may want to up the security level so regular users cant access them.

chatlink was the dos flavor.

worldlink could be ported to dos but it would have to hook into the aio i dont know many wg2 sysops running that for their tcp/ip solutions.

Chatlink was a different product; it was written by a third party. Worldlink originated with Tessier.

yeah but did the same thing didnt it? if i recall and back then i didnt use it, it used a dialup channel to connect and people could chat across the network and play in tele?

i got the source to it but never looked at it or anything, came with an entertainment source i got a few years back.

It's not an easy thing to do.....
Actually, that's probably the one thing the c/s client is good for, adding/modding WL forums and linking to local forums as well as putting your forums into groups.

I'v talked to Marc a few times, almost bought a copy of his new game server (that will have to wait awhile though...to many $$). But he has always been quick to get me activation codes for the programs I have of his. I will check.

Adding a system to maillink today, will be 9 in total.

Also, if anyone needs any help with worldlink boxes/hosting, let me know! I'd love to see it working fulltime. Im a wordlink noob but have buttloads of bandwidth and enough computers to make the wife angry.

Worldlink is now working on Elwynor's servers. It's running in test right now on:

dreamline.elwynor.com (Dreamline)
tls.wetookyour.tv (The Light Source)
hs.hostleasing.net (High Society)

It seems to work just fine - we just had a chat with users on all three systems, e-mail, paging, and one general forum (wl.general)....

We'll be setting up a better server shortly and you can all switch over to it.

So what is going to be the new Official Worldlink Server that we are going to use? How soon will it be ready to connect to. Do we need an account or anything setup so it will connect?

Likely worldlink.elwynor.com - it's not up yet. It will allow systems to connect directly.
