Just tried out a cool game

Post by Malakai »

I was just messing around with my archives and MBBS DOS and decided to install a game called Cyber Tech. It's an RPG where you play a mercenary and get to own a mech. It's also a PVP game. When your character dies, you have to start all over again. It seems like a pretty cool game. Would be neat if the author would release a keygen for it.

I've been trying to find David McCloskey forever. I'd like to acquire his line. I ported Forbidden Lands I to Worldgroup 3.2 NT, but I can't release it, as I don't own it.

I liked his games. Forbidden Lands I, II, III, Cyber-Tech, Buccaneers, Shogun, and First Contact.

One of these days I'll track him down.

David McCloskey, Executive Producer
David McCloskey was employee #2 at VR1. He oversees our St. Petersburg studio, responsible for Fighter Ace series, and manages business development for VR1 Entertainment. He further leads the D2G (database driven games) team in Boulder. David led the development of Evernight, our completely addictive turn-based fantasy strategy game. Before joining VR1 he was President & CEO of Ethos Corp, a software development company specializing in programs for the banking industry, where he helped develop the first wireless pricing network with Motorola.

Seems VR1 is down and out now...somehow, I ended up at the website of one 'WABA Fun' where David McCloskey is the CEO. It's in Boulder, I sent an email.

oi, that's all I got.

Where is David?

Anyone ever find David? I'd love to somehow get copies of FL books 2 and 3.

you know its a damned shame i was in canada on some business around june of 2005, i was up one night going through some archives and found the cyber tech, forbidden lands stuff and installed it (was only running a wg2 back then) just to give my Ta players something to do in between patches, and a couple guys got into it so i did some searching on the accesscomm isp in canada and was on a forumboard and sent some queries out just trying to find this guy so i could register, not acquire, or anything and him and a guy that wrote another canadian RPG under the DBA of cow creations contacted me back the forbidden lands stuff the keygen stuff had been misplaced but they would "get back to me" well this was 3 yrs ago.

Rick, do you have a master list of people you are trying to get in touch with you can e-mail me? i have been quite successful in the past finding people on fidonet as well, believe it or not alot of ole timers like us still post to fido/rime echoes, i been a member of fidonet since my very first bbs in 1993 (wwiv!) i was 18 interested in learning to develop door games, found it quite frusterating looping back w/o errors ran into a guy we all should remember, Tim Stryker, he blogged his majorbbs to me telling me writing games for his bbs software was alot easier than writing a door from scratch, that a 2 user version was $249, yada ya and look at me today.
although i did find out later the account was a common account shared by gcomm employees so who knows who i talked to, but i wanna say back in april i was on fidonet trying to get help on an error i was running into with my tele-arena project and this guy answered it right back, cannot for the life of me remember what company he said he helped develop addons with but he was VERY familiar with the mbbs/wg api and sdk.
so people still lurk there.

I say we start a pool/reward fund that goes to whomever finds him first; once it gets up to a few grand, he'll pop somehow.

Hmmm.... what's the going rate for a Private Investigator nowadays?
