So, what type of music are you all in to? I see a lot of you have a bunch of midi stuff and are in to techno. I, on the other hand, for the most part, don't care for techno, but listen to a wide range of stuff: oldies, classic rock, hard rock, metal, grunge, some classical, some blues, a small ammount of disco, etc...

Fleetwood mac, Hendrix, Doors, chuck berry, beatles, zeppelin, tchaikovsky, ac/dc, phantom of the opera, skynard, some of the older beastie boys, metallica, poison, gnr, fats domino, kenny rogers, lil richard, billy joel, genesis, j geils band, stones, pink floyd, etc.

MP3 Servers.. Yeah, I remember when people were first starting to put mp3 players in their cars, but they weren't the little ipods we have today. They were full-fledged PCs. I knew a lady that installed them and sold self-install kits for them at the time. They'd automatically shut down when the car was turned off, had some type of remote..

I guess now days, people have incorperated mini-itx pcs in to cars, with monitors, for gps navigation, war driving, watching movies, listening to music, playing games, etc.

I've considered doing some of the xbox/ps2 and dvd player mods in my vehicles but haven't done so yet. With the prices of gas going up all of the time, I don't spend much time in a vehicle any more :/

yeah i used to have a laptop wired into the a/v jacks on the car sterio with a wireless nic and plugged into the cigarette lighter through a power inverter.

i could upload from the house.

but that was the old days like 2yrs ago, lol

now i have an alpine dvd player with lcd screen with a hub that sits under the passenger seat with with several av jacks on it where you can hook up externals like ps2,xbox,etc.....

i also have a laptop permanently mounted in the trunk where i can upload mps's into the car.
i dont use the ipods,etc....
not a mac fan.

i actually got a ticket in toms river new jersey for having a screen display in the drivers view.

funny thing was the officer had a laptop mounted in his car, i guess to run plates, warrant checks,etc....

thing is....

if its dangerous for me to have light effects in my view isnt it just as dangerous to him?

i thought the gps navigational system i have in the car that i actually bought at best buy on my way to atlantic city was supposed to be viewable by a driver?

oh and by the way i was pulled over outside of seaside heights when i got pulled up behind so the car wasnt in motion :)

gotta love new jersey, lol

Yeah, I've noticed that wildlife officers now have full laptops mounted in their cars, viewable by the driver, of course. I think it's illegal almost everywhere, but there is one loophole: if the screen is used for GPS Navigation, it's not illegal.

yeah but the law actually stipulates and it not reserved to.

"any distraction to the driver that has light and/or movement and sound
thats in his/her view"

thats commonwealth of virginia law revised 2004 when tv's and what nots became more popular and affordable to teens.

when it was stock installed in navigators and vans it was ok, when it came to where you could buy an lcd tv screen and all hookups for 200 bux every teen in richmond had one.

hell even the large lcd'd that dont play movies just track info,etc.. is illegal in virginia, NC, and maryland.
